We watched the new Star Trek movie tonight. We really enjoyed it. Rachel has seen more of the old Star Trek movies than I have so she could relate with the characters better. In any case we both liked it a lot.
I had lunch today with the COO of the company. He is doing this all week and inviting different groups from various departments just to talk candidly and get our feedback on how the company can improve. I really do work for a good company. I couldn’t think of much as far as improvements. Sure there would be some things that would be nice to have, but overall SendOutCards is already the best company I have ever worked for.
Today I got a lot of kudos and praise for the work I did the past few days to get the event registration completed. It is not fully complete, but it showed well. I will spend the next couple of days polishing it and hopefully release it Friday.
I took a much need day off today. I was supposed to have last Friday off, but I had to stay and work to get a project done. Even yesterday after working on it all day I still didn’t have it completed. It was a co-worker that dropped the ball and didn’t get his assignment done, then went out of town. He was supposed to be back today so I figured he could finish it up. Rachel and I went on a date during lunch while Gracie & Gehrig were in school. We took Nolan with us. He behaved very well. It was a fun and relaxing afternoon.
Rachel drove to Salt Lake with the kids and we met at Costco and drove downtown together. We at dinner at Crown Burger just before the crowds came. We then went to the church history museum. The boys were very wild as I expected they would be, but it was different and fun. We then bought some groceries at Costco before coming home.
Tonight we had a baptism preview fireside with Gracie. I can’t believe she is turning 8 years old this year! She is pretty excited to get baptized. It was nice to be there and just focus on here.
Today we had a birthday party for my dad since they were out. Melanie and Kellie did most of the work organizing it. We had it at Kelli & Lance’s church, which seems to be the most central location for everyone now.
It was a lot of fun. After eating we played a game that involved all the family including kids called “Do you love your neighbor?”
Lance used duct tape to create a four square court for us. We played until we barely had anything left, as we usually do. It was a lot of fun and wore us all out.
My parents drove out to Salt Lake today to see a production of Fiddler on the Roof at Hale Center Theater. Hale Center Theater just happens to be about 2 minutes away from my work, so I invited them to come check out company. It was fun. Mike helped me give them a tour of the place. They were pretty impressed. I think my dad was interested in signing up to become a distributor.
I’m not getting enough sleep lately. It seems the problem is that we love watching the Olympics too much! It is fun to see the various sports and hear the stories of the athletes.
Tonight for family night we had a scavenger hunt for the kids. They really enjoyed it. The clues were very easy but they got so excited every time they found the next one. They worked very well together also. The last clue led them to a cake that said, “A baby is on the way!”. The funny part is, that is the one clue they couldn’t figure out. We had to explain it to them. Even then they didn’t seam all that excited. They were more excited about the scavenger hunt itself. Gehrig said it was going to be a girl, which surprised us because he has been talking about wanting another brother for a while now.
