Yesterday I went to the Grocery store to get some milk for Nolan. I withdrew my “blow money” (Rachel and I get $40 per month for “blow money”, it used to be $20, but we upped it when we got out of debt.) and the machine gave it to me in 5 dollar bills. I thought at the time, “what a pain in the butt”… literally. When I get too much cash, my wallet swells and it is uncomfortable to sit on. Generally, it will give me 2 $20 bills.

Well today, John (co-worker) told me that Smith’s was having a sale on Cereal where we could get it for a dollar a box. So we went and stocked up. On the way out someone came and asked for $2 dollars because he had run out of gas. I seem to get a lot of people asking for gas money. I think it is because it has doubled in price in the past year. I gave him a $5 bill. I thought afterwards that that must have been the reason I got all those small bills. I doubt I would have been inclined to give him $20 just because that was the smallest bill I had. I enjoy giving money to those who are in need and ask, because in the scriptures it says this is how we retain a remission of our sins (Mosiah 4:26).
