I don’t normally blog this early in the day, but I just had a great experience that I wanted to record. Also, we are driving out to Roosevelt tonight for my grandpa’s viewing and funeral so it is more convenient to do it now anyway.
This morning I called the lawyer that sent me a cease and desist letter from Finicity (makers of Mvelopes). He was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I’m sure that is his job though. The conversation left me very frustrated and upset. I have a feeling that something can be worked out, but I don’t have the money to go through lawyers and litigation, and I’m sure that is a tactic of larger businesses to smash competition. I happened across the direct phone number of their COO (Nicholas Thomas). I thought I would call him to just chat. He didn’t answer and I didn’t bother leaving a message.
I came back downstairs after a couple of hours with this matter still heavy on my mind. I decided the best person to ask for advice on the matter is my Father in Heaven, so I prayed. After I prayed I started dialing Nick’s number again. Just as I hit sent on my cell phone, my home phone rang. It was Nick! He said he was just returning my call. I thought it was odd because I didn’t leave a message. He must have gotten it from caller ID.
I had a short but good conversation. He was very friendly. He said the company president had been more involved with this. He was going to talk with him and get back to me. He asked if I was a company or just doing this on my own on the side. I explained that it was just a side project and that I had a full time job that had me commuting 1.5 hours a day. I also told him that my new boss mentioned he knew him. He did know my boss well and asked me to tell him hello.
The timing on his phone call was amazing really. After the call I felt better inside immediately. I knelt and said another prayer of thanks. I don’t know where this will end up, but I do know my Father knows me and knows my concerns. I’m grateful for that.
