JD was in the office today. He had a meeting with Kody this morning. It got pushed back so he met with everyone before that meeting for about an hour. After his meeting with Kody he took us all the Red Robin for Lunch where we continued to talk. He basically apologized for the lack of communication and how hectic things have been. He was disappointed that Seth and I had taken other jobs. Frankly I think he was surprised that we both found jobs so soon – especially in this market with higher pay. I think he got a sense of the talent level of our team. I really like JD and I am somewhat sad that I’m leaving because I think he will lead ZenPrint to great things.

But, at the same time I’m also very excited to work at Neutron. They gave me a $4000 budget to order the computer equipment I wanted. I asked for a 15″ MacBook Pro with maxed out RAM, hi-res monitor and 256 GB solid state drive. Plus a 27″ Thunderbolt display with keyboard, magic mouse, & extra charger. This system is bleeding edge, top of the line. I’ve very excited. When I asked for all it, the response was, “sure, no problem”. Nicole (the VP of technology there) has been very friendly. She’s totally fine with me doing freelance work and my own business stuff on the side. I’m going to go have lunch with the Neutron team on Monday just to get to know them a bit before I officially start.

Choices between Good & Good are always the hardest.
