Wow it has been a very long time since I wrote in my journal. I was doing so well for a while. Well, here’s an attempt at an update.

I only worked for ZenPrint for a couple of weeks before I got a job offer from Neutron Interactive. They offered me $80,000. I was hoping for more, but honestly it was a better deal all around. I got increased pay and better benefits. Well, I thought the medical benefits would save me quite a bit, but because medical and Rx benefits are separate, the out of pocket maximums are greater on the Rx plan. If I didn’t have these expensive Gleevec pill to take, I’m sure it would be a much better deal.

But my favorite benefit at Neutron is that they provide free catered lunches everyday. They also keep the cabinets and fridges stocked with food, so I never go hungry there!

It took a while to get used to, but I have made friends and I’m really enjoying it there. Adam & Trevor from SendOutCards also started at Neutron shortly after I did. That was helpful to have familiar faces around. They really treat me well.

There are only two issues I have with my job right now. First if the commute, it’s kind of long, but I’m pretty much used to that. But the second issue is that I don’t feel very productive. I think it is mostly that I don’t understand the workings of the business well enough. It seems I’m always trying to hit a moving target. I got so I know SendOutCards’ system very well and I made a lot of contributions to that codebase and I felt very productive. I still haven’t gotten to that point at Neutron yet.
