Pain Summary:
Lower Back: 5
Upper Back: 2

I still haven’t done anything about taxes. I don’t know that I will even get to them this week. I spent the evening putting up curtain and hanging everything else in the office. I think aside from cleaning the office is done. Now I need to finish the living room and hallway. Off the top of my head, here is what needs to get done before Saturday:

  • Replace sockets & light switches
  • Hang pictures
  • Hang curtains
  • Hang mirrors in the hallway

I’m sure this is going to take another couple of evenings. Then we have a lot of cleaning to do. Gehrig gets baptized on Saturday morning. Afterwards everyone is coming to our house. I think this excites and stresses out Rachel. She likes to host but often feels everything needs to be perfect.

On top of that, I have a lesson to prepare for Sunday. We had a great lesson on Sunday about the Savior and testimony and conversion. During the lesson, I thought to myself that I would like to give a lesson just focused on the life of the Savior. After the lesson, President Andreoli came and asked me if I could give the lesson next week on the Atonement. So I am excited, just a bit nervous if I will have adequate time to prepare it.

In trying to think about something that frustrates me this morning, I thought of another thing as I was listening to an audio book on the way to the train station. I was listening to The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Ecker. I’ve listed to it a few times because I think it has some good ideas and I think my mind can use some reconditioning as far as money is concerned.

One of my frustrations is that I don’t work to my potential. I know there is so much I could and should be doing to grow my business – namely EnvelopeBudget.com. But I just don’t put in the time and effort. Again, off the top of my head, here are 10 things I know I could do within the next 2-3 months that would make a huge difference.

  1. Finish code reviewing all of Catherine’s updates.
  2. Add the ability to pay me. Catherine has done the bulk of the work here, I just need to test & tweak a few things.
  3. Fix the Allocation view. This is the one thing holding me back from moving off of Inzolo.
  4. Update the sales & marketing pages. Catherine did these with zero input from me and frankly she has no experience with it. So it is pretty good considering.
  5. Put together a presentation to apply to Yodlee’s incubator program. Implement Yodlee so I can support more banks.
  6. Create some training documentation and videos. Catherine has done much of this already. I could actually just do the videos and have her transcribe them.
  7. Do a live webinar. I could teach people how to budget using the EnvelopeBudget method and save this to share with others.
  8. Partner with someone that has a large list to do this webinar with.
  9. Set up advertising on Google Adwords and Facebook to drive traffic.
  10. Create an API so I can start working on a native mobile application.

It frustrates me that I know all this yet I don’t do it because I know I’m leaving money on the table. Why don’t I do it? I would say somethings just don’t sound “fun” so I don’t ever make it a priority – this mainly includes the videos and webinar. I don’t like being on a microphone or camera, but it is something I need to get over. I guess my drive and priorities are just not high enough. But how do I keep focus and keep it as a priority? That is the question.
