I took the day off Friday. We spent the morning packing for vacation and trying to get a hold of a roofer to give us an estimate on fixing the flashing on the roof to the house. Our preferred roofer, Jarod Wallace happened to be in the area, so he stopped by. He said the inpectors were idiots. Just because they couldn’t see the flashing didn’t mean it wasn’t there. He wrote a letter for us stating that the flashing was fine, no repairs were needed and he expected the roof have 5+ years left on it. That was a huge relief!
So we were able to leave on vacation without much stress.
We drove up to Bear Lake. Rachel’s friend, Brook pretty much planned the whole thing. We go in Friday night and stayed at a fun KOA campground. We rented some bikes and went for a bike ride after getting the tent set up.
On Saturday we spent the whole day at the lake. I had never been to Bear Lake before. I can see why people really like it. We were on the north side of the lake and it felt like an ocean beach. It was packed with people and covered in white sand for the kids to play in. Chad & Tristi brought a boat. We took turns going out tubing. I think we all had a great time.
This morning we got up took down the tent and packed the car. On our way out we stopped to get some “famous” raspberry shakes. To be honest they tasted like shakes you could get at any shake place. I think the raspberries were frozen and they didn’t even put very many in mine.
On the drive home we tried to teach the kids about following Christ since it was the Sabbath and we missed church. Rachel gave a long lecture on following Christ. Then when she was done it was quiet, and then Gehrig asked in all seriousness, “Why did we buy milkshakes today?”
Ouch! I had to laugh. In my mind there was no point in making excuses. We talked about it and decided it wasn’t the best decision and we should have gotten them last night.
We stopped in Logan on the way home and visited with Emily for about an hour. Chris & Brielle were driving home from Tridell so we didn’t see them.
We also stopped to look at the lot we just put a deposit on to reserve in Farmington. I’m a bit nervous as I always am before buying a house. Rachel is very excited though.
