We had a “party” of sorts with Rachel’s friends. I say Rachel’s friends because they were her friends growing up and in high school. But over the years I have gotten to know them well and they are “our friends.” I’m glad that they keep in touch and its fun now that they are also having kids so our kids get together as well on these friend nights.

We had an elders quorum social tonight. I got off work at 3:00 and went to the bread store and Costco for hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream bars. The activity was at 6:00 and no one was there except our presidency and our families. As the night went on, more and more people arrived. It was great to see how many came. I think it went really well and we didn’t have to stress about it much.

I’ve been working on setting up a server for work the past 3 days. It’s been very frustrating to say the least. Today things started coming together as a got help from a few people online. I’m thankful for people who take the time to help others without any expectation of reward.

A few weeks ago Cory (my step-brother) send me an email with a number of links to coupons to print out for $1 off Malt-O-Meal cereal, then mentioned there would be a sale coming up at Albertson’s where the cereal would be $1 per bag. So today I got 16 bags of FREE cereal! After getting the cereal, I had to finish taking invitations out for the elders quorum social this Thursday. We went out as a family. Tonight was family night. I tried to tell the kids an Old Testament story, but I’m not sure that went over that well. Oh well, I tried. We watched a movie and had popcorn. Gehrig kept trying to cuddle close and getting my attention to tell me he loved me.

This morning was the first of our weekly Sunday morning presidency meetings. I can to call Bryan and wake him up. We made invitations and printed out a list of elders and prospective elders, then hit the road to deliver them. We tried two houses and then realized it was still 8:45 on a Sunday morning and we may not have that much success going door to door that early. So we stopped early deciding to try again later. After butting heads a bit this morning I decided Rachel needed some quality time. I called my mom on very short notice and asked if she could babysit. She arranged to come over after work, and even gave me some money for the date for my belated birthday present. We ordered take out from Cafe Rio and went to the Dark Knight (Batman). It was very nice and much needed for both of us.
