Frustrated With Slow Healing

I can’t tell if my leg is getting any better. I went for a walk during lunch. Afterwards my knee started hurting. It’s pretty frustrating to be injured – especially when you are injured doing “good” like trek. Toby sent me a text to check on me. He seemed concerned that my MRI was still a couple of weeks out. I mentioned I was on my last steroid pill today and I was worried the main in my back my come back. He said...

Benchwarmer

I had a frustrating day at work. I noticed we had an open position for a Ruby on Rails position. I thought it was odd because we have no Ruby on Rails projects at work. I started asking around and learned that while I was out last week Joel (VP of operations – my boss) and Dan (CEO) made the decision to find a Rails developer to work on Job Dash rather than have me work on it.  It really frustrated me because first of all they...

Gad Davis b.1820

My leg is still numb and I haven’t noticed any real improvement yet. After lunch I went for a walk downtown and decided to step into the LDS Family Search library. I did some research on Gad Davis. He is my 3rd Great Grandfather. I was trying to confirm that his parents were Henry Thomas Davis & Margaret Evans and then try to go further up the line, but I didn’t make much progress. I did find interesting information on Gad Davis...

Herniated Disc II: Day 3

For how much pain I was in last time I herniated my disc, I’m surprised that I have recovered from the pain so quickly this time. I haven’t felt much pain at all today. I haven’t taken any pain pills either. I wonder if it is the steroid pills that are helping. My leg is still very numb, much more than last night. This is what makes me most nervous. I have tried to walk on it a lot today and Gracie was a sweetheart and massaged...

Anniversary, Trek, & Father’s Day

Today is Sunday. I had a great week last week. Last Saturday we drove out to Roosevelt for the Brighton family reunion. I had a good chat with Bart when I asked why he stopped going to church. He said he has always struggled with faith and he finally decided he couldn’t keep teaching his kids what he didn’t really believe himself. I feel bad for his family. Michelle still believes and takes her children to church each week. Bart...

Big Change Around the Corner?

Wow, what a week. Let’s start with two weeks ago. Neutron has been looking for a while to hire a good Python/Django developer. Dal, the Proton project manager has started looking at Github profiles and asking us developers what we thought of their open source work. One name that got sent out was Greg Doermann. I recruited Greg to work on Snirk with me. I eventually left Snirk because I didn’t like the business plan (mainly of just...

Change Coming?

When we were driving back from our vacation in San Diego, after stopping in St. George for a small break to let the kids out to stretch their legs and play. I asked my wife, “So when are we going to move here?” Her response was incredulous. “Are you serious?! You’ve never said anything about wanting to move to St. George.” I told her I have always wanted to live in St. George. I brought it up a few times when we...
