Prayer for Health

I had a hard time waking up this morning. I was very congested with a runny nose and red eyes. I’m sure as most people would do, as I said my morning prayers I prayed that I would get feeling better. I guess I didn’t think much about it, but as I look back over the day, I probably cleared up by 9:00 AM. I even played ultimate frisbee (in some very cold weather). I haven’t had a runny nose for the rest of the day. That is an...

Warm House

Tonight as I was pondering where I have seen the hand of the Lord in our family today, I started singing the song “Count Your Many Blessings” in my head. So I decided to count my blessing. I got to number 1 and thought of what I would write about: I have a warm house. It has just started to get cold enough outside that this morning we finally turned on our heater for the first time. It was a simple as flipping a switch and soon our...

Joy in Creating

Nolan was up on and off again all night. I think he’s teething. We just found a bottom molar last night. I still got up around 4:30. I took him downstairs with my. I did a short exercise video, then came in the office, read a section of D&C, then decided that with Nolan I wasn’t going to be able to do any work, so I watched the video President’s Uchtdorf’s talk in General Relief Society meeting. It was an awesome talk...

Prepared

Tonight in welfare meeting we spoke about the economy and how it has a bleek outlook right now. Now I suppose there is a chance that our company could always take a nose dive, but for whatever the reason, I feel at peace. I have a feeling that even if the economy goes really bad (which I still don’t know that it is as bad as the media makes it out to be), we will still be okay. Maybe I would be more concerned if I were in the position I...

Grateful for Service Opportunities

After conference I felt a great desire to serve more. I’ve been fortunate the past few nights to have the opportunity. Around 8:15 tonight I got a phone call from an elder in the ward who had recently moved in. His wife had gone to a home in West Valley to purchase a used high chair. When she was leaving her key broke off in the truck lock. So he asked if I could give him a ride out there so he could take the spare key. It was nice to be...

Family Night Hike

For family night, we drove up Milcreek canyon and hiked a short ways up a trail. It was too cold to hike very far. The boys weren’t quite dressed warm enough. On the way down the trail we started throwing leaves all over each other. Gehrig was pretty ornery up until that point. It turned to be a fun little outing.

Blessing Uniform

My home teacher called me around 9:30 tonight and asked if I could come over and assist him in giving his son a priesthood blessing. I am always honored and grateful to be invited to serve in such a manner. When such occassions come up, I remember my Grandpa’s funeral. The bishop spoke and talke about how when after he died he got a call asking if he could go to my Grandma’s house and give her a blessing. He said he had just gotten...
